Description
Ashtanga, Jivamukti, Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Bikram, Yin… These are some of the typical classes you find here in Oslo and the rest of Norway. While Dharma Yoga is practiced all over the world by over 600 certified teachers and their students – from New York and all over the USA to Vancouver, London, Berlin and even Hong Kong, it seems Dharma is the new baby in town. But it deserves to grow.
The aim of this workshop is to introduce you to the practice of Dharma Yoga. Over the course of 2 hours, we will cover:
- a short history and info session about Yoga Master Sri Dharma Mittra
- our lineage and key principles
- a 90-minute asana practice composed of a fluid and inspired vinyasa to warm up the body, followed by a meditative and challenging second half where we hold each pose a little longer and encourage trust, courage and introspection
- a guided meditation
- and last but not least: pranayama – the yogic science of breathing
This will be an all levels workshop and is designed to meet the student where his or her practice is. Foundations of the pose will be offered to beginners, while deeper variations will also be introduced for the more advanced. Most importantly, the practice is designed to move students forward in not just their physical practice, but their mental and spiritual growth as well.
Knowledge/inquiry, chanting/mantras, asana (including strength-building, stretching, twisting, balancing, inverting, and backbending postures), deep relaxation, breathwork and meditation will form the building blocks of this workshop.
